Recipe
buttermilk fried chicken
Simple, for a beginner cook. Predictable
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Place the chicken breasts in a large bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Make sure the chicken is fully coated in the buttermilk. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight if possible.
2. In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
3. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
4. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge the chicken in the flour mixture, making sure it's fully coated.
5. Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil and fry for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
6. Remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
7. Serve the buttermilk fried chicken hot with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes and coleslaw.
